§ Lieut. - Colonel Bromley - Davenportasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the imposition on 1st April of a weight restriction of seven tons 15 cwt. on traffic using the suspension bridge at Conway means that all vehicles over that weight travelling between Cheshire on the one hand and Caernarvon and Anglesey on the other, must undertake a tortuous detour of over eight miles and that delay is also occurring owing to the fact that a single line of traffic alone is able to use the bridge in its present form; and whether he can give any indication when the plan for the new bridge will be carried out.
§ Mr. MaclayI am aware of the weight restriction imposed by the Conway Bridge Commissioners and of the inconvenience to traffic resulting from the condition of the bridge. I regret that I cannot indicate when it will be possible to incur the considerable expenditure which the construction of a new bridge will involve.
