85. Mrs. Whiteasked the Minister of National Insurance whether he has now considered the report of the National Insurance Advisory Committee on Maternity Benefits; and what action he proposes to take on the recommendations contained therein.
§ Mr. PeakeYes, and I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my appreciation of the work of the Committee in preparing this most valuable report. I am taking the necessary steps to give effect to the recommendation for amendment of the regulations governing payment for confinements abroad. The other recommendations would require legislation and will be further considered when an appropriate opportunity arises.
