Mr. Healyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the cost of making the current register of voters in Northern Ireland; and the amount for which the Northern Ireland Government is responsible as well as the total names approximately on the register, for the Imperial Parliament, the Northern Ireland Parliament and local government, respectively.

Maxwell FyfeThe register published in Northern Ireland last Tuesday is a combined register for use at elections to this House, to the Parliament of Northern Ireland and at local government elections. The cost of preparing it is estimated to have been about £74,000. This will be divided equally between the Government of the United Kingdom, the Government of Northern Ireland and the local authorities.
The register contains the names of about 873,000 electors entitled to vote at elections to this House. I am informed that the numbers entitled to vote at elections to the Parliament of Northern Ireland and at local government elections are about 868,000 and 549,000 respectively.
