HC Deb 29 November 1951 vol 494 c174W
97. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Health what information or records exist not only in respect of the decline in infant and maternal mortality, respectively, but also of the approximate percentage of cases where the mother has lost her life through pregnancy or childbirth; and of the instances where either the mother or the child has had to be sacrificed in order that one shall live.

Mr. Crookshank

Full information about infant and maternal mortality, including the number, but not the percentage, of cases in which women have lost their lives through pregnancy or childbirth appears year by year in the Registrar General's Statistical Review. I am sending the hon. Member a summary of these figures. Information on the lines of the last part of the Question is not available.
