HC Deb 28 November 1951 vol 494 c148W
14. Mr. Foot

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he will give an estimate of how much public expenditure would be involved if all Royal Air Force pensioners were to receive an increase in their pensions equivalent to that recently awarded to men who left the Service after 1st September, 1950; and what action he is proposing to assist those Royal Air Force pensioners who did not receive the recent increase.

Mr. Birch

The cost of bringing the pensions of all Royal Air Force pensioners into line with those awarded to men leaving the Service after 1st September, 1950, is estimated to amount to £500,000 a year. This estimate does not include terminal grants which were introduced with the latest improvements in pension terms.

On the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answers given by the Prime Minister on 20th and 21st November, 1951.
