asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how much of the money authorised by Parliament for the new towns has been expended, specifying the amount in each case; and how much more money is expected to be spent.

Advances to development corporations in England and Wales under the New Towns Act now total just over £17 million. The details of the amounts advanced to each corporation are set out below.

As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer her to the Foreword to the Accounts under the New Towns Act for the year 1949–50.
