HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c146W
Mr. Janner

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he will give any information about the objects of the Conference now taking place in London under Government auspices to consider intra-European technical assistance projects; and what particular projects are under consideration.

Mr. Molson

I assume that the hon. Gentleman is referring to the International Symposium on the Organisation of Scientific and Industrial Research which took place in London from 12th to 15th November. This Symposium constituted the concluding part of the programme of investigation undertaken by O.E.E.C. Technical Assistance Mission No. 81.

The object of the Mission, on which most of the O.E.E.C. countries were represented, was to examine the organisation of research in applied science in various European countries with a view to the exchange and sharing of experience in this field.

The object of the Symposium, at which the Mission was joined by several directors of research organisations in member countries, was to review the work of the Mission and to discuss the basic issues which had emerged.
