HC Deb 26 November 1951 vol 494 cc110-1W
91. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the number of road accidents resulting from the road surface in the immediate proximity of traffic-controlled lights and pedestrian crossings being insufficiently proofed against skidding; and whether special steps can be taken to ensure that at an early date all such road surfaces are rendered less slippery.

Mr. Maclay

I have no information that any considerable number of accidents are due to this cause. Highway authorities are well aware of the danger of slippery roads, especially at places where motor vehicles may have to pull up quickly. If the hon. Member has any particular case in mind I will gladly look into it.
