HC Deb 22 November 1951 vol 494 cc90-1W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware that the county borough of West Ham was the worst bombed borough during the last war; that 14,000 houses were completely destroyed, a total of 56,700 buildings damaged, resulting in an urgent housing list of over 14,000 families to date, which is growing at the rate of 140 per month; and what action he proposes to take to assist this council to overcome this housing problem.

Mr. H. Macmillan

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to several Questions regarding war-damaged cities (including West Ham) on 13th November.
