§ 112. Mr. Edward Evansasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware of the policy of the British Sugar Corporation in regard to sugar beet pulp for 1952 when the prices will be increased to growers to £19 15s. per ton bagged pulp in spite of protests by the interests concerned and whether he will take such action as will mitigate the hardship to growers.
Dr. HillAfter careful review of all the circumstances we would not feel justified in asking the British Sugar Corporation to cancel the recent increase in the growers' price for beet pulp from the 1952 crop. Even at the new price, pulp will still be considerably cheaper than other feeding stuffs.
