HC Deb 22 November 1951 vol 494 cc63-4W
2. Mr. Benn

asked the Minister of Labour how many people are waiting to enter Remploy Limited, Bristol; how long is the average waiting time; who is responsible for the entry system; and whether he will take further steps to meet the needs of the registered disabled.

Sir W. Monckton

There is no waiting list of persons awaiting entry into the two Remploy factories in Bristol. The management selects men for engagement as vacancies occur. At one factory recruitment was slowed down earlier this year during re-organisation, but is now proceeding normally. Fifteen additional workers have been accepted by this factory since 1st September. At the other factory, which is for the tuberculous, six workers have started since 1st September and there are six vacancies for which no applicants are at the moment available.
