§ 70. Mr. W. Wellsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will arrange for repayments of Income Tax of sums of £20 or less to be made, at the option of the payee, by means of money order or postal order, whichever may be appropriate to the sum involved, as an alternative to payment by cheque.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterNo. It has been the practice for many years, for reasons of security and economy, to make all repayments of income tax by cheque and I have no evidence that this practice has caused any appreciable inconvenience. If, however, any particular case of inconvenience is known to the hon. Member and details can be supplied, I shall be pleased to look into it.
