HC Deb 22 November 1951 vol 494 cc81-2W
78. Mr. Adams

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer by what proportion, as a result of the cuts in imports announced on 7th November, imports of foodstuffs, textiles, paper and paper-making materials, respectively, will be reduced.

Sir A. Salter

Imports of foodstuffs from all sources will be reduced by approximately 8 per cent. in value below the present level of imports. Most textiles are excluded from the cuts. A final decision has not yet been taken on the level of imports of paper and paper-making materials in 1952.
