HC Deb 21 November 1951 vol 494 c43W
Sir W. Darling

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he is aware that the red 2½d. stamp causes confusion; and if he will consider returning to the blue issue, which is familiar and popular.

Mr. Gammans

The change of colour was necessary to conform to the Universal Postal Union Convention, and it is not practicable to return to the old colour. There was some confusion at the time of the change but, generally speaking, the public have now become accustomed to the new colour.
