HC Deb 21 November 1951 vol 494 c44W
11. Mr. Reeves

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he is aware that preparations are being made to receive television pictures on a large screen at one of London's largest cinemas; and what were the terms of the licence granted to the proprietors.

Mr. Gammans

No licences have been granted for the showing of television programmes to paying audiences, though I am aware that some newspapers have reported that plans are being made to install apparatus for large screen television at certain cinemas.
