HC Deb 20 November 1951 vol 494 cc32-3W
104. Mr. Boothby

asked the Minister of Works when the existing obstructions in Star Court to the proper entry of Members of Parliament will be cleared away; and to what extent it is intended to use Westminster Hall, permanently, as a furniture store.

Mr. Eccles

I hope that Star Chamber Court will be clear of all obstructions by the end of the year. It was never intended to use Westminster Hall as a furniture store. Owing to the extreme shortage of storage accommodation in the Palace of Westminster the furniture temporarily removed from the Grand Committee Room and from the Chapel of St. Mary in the Crypt and rooms on the west side of Westminster Hall, which are under repair, was temporarily placed there, but it has now been removed. I have given instructions that Westminster Hall shall be kept clear of such encumbrances.
