HC Deb 20 November 1951 vol 494 cc27-8W
85. Mr. Callaghan

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he will take to ensure that timber continues to be imported through South Wales ports when softwood buying passes out of Government hands.

Mr. Hopkinson

I have been asked to reply. I think it must be left to the importers and the shippers to decide which ports it is most convenient and economical to use, but I can see no reason why timber should cease to be imported through South Wales ports.
