§ 127. Mr. N. Macphersonasked the Minister of Transport what steps he will take to ensure that information which comes into the hands of a local authority while acting in the capacity of agent for a Government Department is not used for other purposes not connected with that Department.
§ Mr. MaclayI understand that my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind information which local authorities obtain in their capacity as registration and licensing authorities for motor vehicles. I consider it undesirable that such authorities should use this information for their own purposes except, in keeping with the governing Regulations, in their capacity as a police authority and I am informing them accordingly. The Regulations define the circumstances in which this information is to be made available to other bodies.
