HC Deb 15 November 1951 vol 493 c56W
63. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture to what extent the output of British agriculture declined in the first nine months of 1951 compared with the previous year.

Sir T. Dugdale

There has been some reduction this year in the output of milk and eggs, but meat output has been maintained. Among crops, the production of wheat and oats this year is appreciably less than that of last year, but there was a somewhat heavier production of barley and mixed corn. Production of potatoes and sugar beet are both lower than last year. The fruit crop, particularly that of apples, has been heavier than in 1950.
