HC Deb 15 November 1951 vol 493 c64W
98. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the large number of electors in Ely, Cardiff, who were disfranchised at the General Election by the name of their street being left off the register; and whether he will institute an inquiry into this matter.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

This is the responsibility of the electoral registration officer, and I have no power to take any action. I have, however, been in communication with the electoral registration officer, who Worms me that a number of newly constructed houses in this street were unfortunately overlooked in the process of the house to house canvass. This omission was also not observed by the electors themselves or by the party agents when the lists were published for claims and objections to be made.
