§ 54. Mr. Alportasked the Minister of Food if he is aware of the serious consequences to United Kingdom apple growers arising from the present large scale imports of foreign apples; and what steps he intends to take to ensure that British growers have reasonable security in the home market.
§ Major Lloyd George:Imports of apples this season have so far been very small and should not have affected the sale of good quality home-grown apples. The recent reduction of food imports will cut down imports of Continental apples substantially. Home growers should have little difficulty in marketing the remainder of their crop.
