HC Deb 13 November 1951 vol 493 c17W
3. Mr. P. Roberts

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will consult the Minister of Health with a view to ensuring that ex-Service pensioners in need of medical treatment shall, if possible, be sent to Ministry of Pensions' hospitals rather than to the ordinary hospitals.

Mr. Amory:

Ex-Service pensioners requiring treatment for their war disabilities are encouraged to enter Ministry of Pensions hospitals. Frequently, however, a pensioner, for personal reasons, prefers to enter a hospital nearer his home, and unless he is in need of very specialised treatment which cannot be provided in that hospital his wishes are met.
