HC Deb 31 May 1951 vol 488 cc51-2W
95. Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will make a statement on the circumstances in which a pilot was killed when his aircraft crashed into the sea-wall near Bradwell-juxta-Mare, Essex, on Monday, 28th May; and what steps are taken to prevent dangerously low flying in this neighbourhood.

Mr. A. Henderson

This unfortunate accident occurred during an air-to-ground firing exercise at Dengie range, the pilot in an attack hitting the sea-wall some distance past the target. A court of inquiry has been convened. Flying below 1,000 feet in this area is prohibited apart from authorised low flying in the course of exercises at firing ranges.
