§ Mr. G. R. StraussMy Department's armament inspectors, including those at the Royal Ordnance factories, are recruited through local employment exchanges or by promotion of existing Ministry of Supply employees. A substantial number are established civil servants. These employees are encouraged, but not required as a condition of service, to be members of a trade union or staff association.
