§ Mr. G. BrownI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the string course at the level of the window sills carved with heraldic badges and a leaf design. So much of the stonework was renewed in the 18th and 19th centuries that it is unlikely that the original colouring of this work could be traced at this stage. In any case, I doubt whether colouring would be an improvement in the absence of the tapestries or other wall treatment which probably went with it.
