§ 87. Mr. Angus Maudeasked the President of the Board of Trade why, despite the need to employ more elderly men 129W and women, the age limit of 60 has been imposed on the employment of temporary staff at Osterley for work connected with the Census of Distribution.
§ Mr. RhodesIn the present manpower situation, there is no upper age limit for appointment to the Board of Trade in a temporary clerical or analogous capacity. Of 173 appointments made to the Board since November last for Census of Distribution work at Osterley, 13 were of persons over the age of 60. If the hon. Member has any special case in mind and will let me have particulars, I will look into it.
