HC Deb 21 March 1951 vol 485 cc295-6W
104. Mr. Hayman

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the variability of the reception in Redruth and district of the West of England Home Service Programme, he will ask the British Broadcasting Corporation, until this defect is rectified, to re-broadcast it from the Redruth transmitter instead of the Third Programme.

Mr. Hobson

The B.B.C. has taken note of this suggestion and my right hon. Friend understands it is being examined with other proposals for improving Home Service reception in various parts of the country including Cornwall.

109. Mr. Arbuthnot

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the continued bad wireless reception in the Dover and Deal area, consideration is being given to very high frequency broadcasting, possibly from Wrotham; and whether he is in a position to make a statement on the subject.

Mr. Hobson

The development of very high frequency broadcasting in the United Kingdom generally is being considered, but it is too early for my right hon. Friend to make a statement.
