HC Deb 21 March 1951 vol 485 c277W
7. Mr. W. Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that the Royal Air Force huts at Stafford are in a bad state of repair and that the health of the men stationed there is being adversely affected by these conditions; and if he will take steps to have sleeping-out passes issued until the conditions have been improved.

Mr. A. Henderson

Nearly half the airmen at Stafford are housed in modern barrack blocks of permanent construction which have been erected since the end of the war, and which are of a very high standard. The remainder are in accommodation which consists mainly of temporary brick built huts which were put up during the last war. These huts while inferior to the permanent blocks are in fair condition, although repairs to some of them are needed and the work is being put in hand. I have received a medical report which states that the standard of health of the men stationed there is good, and is not being adversely affected by camp conditions. The second part of the Question does not, therefore, arise.
