HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 cc243-4W
Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Minister of Health on what date negotiations were started between his Department and the Ministry of Agriculture for the acquisition of land at the Heath, Cardiff, as a site for the proposed teaching hospital; and what is the reason for the delay in concluding these negotiations.

Mr. Marquand

The negotiations started on 24th August, 1950, but the question of providing for the needs of allotment holders who would eventually be dispossessed of their plots by the building scheme has required careful consideration.

Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Minister of Health when a decision is likely to be reached concerning the proposed extension at Llandough Hospital, Cardiff; and what is the reason for the delay in reaching a decision.

Mr. Marquand

The governors of the United Cardiff Hospitals were told on 8th March that this extension must await the completion of a large scheme of higher priority.
