HC Deb 19 March 1951 vol 485 cc223-4W
61. Brigadier Thorp

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when claims for compensation will be made on the Japanese Government, on behalf of those civilians who lost all their belongings following the invasion of China by Japan.

Mr. Younger

No such claims can be made before the conclusion of a Peace Treaty with Japan. I can say nothing at present on the prospects of their settlement.
