§ Mr. TomlinsonIt is estimated that the number of children admitted to maintained primary schools amounted to 641,000 in 1949, and about 586,000 in 1950. The comparable figures for 1951, 1952 and 1953, assuming the number of under fives remains constant at the 1950 figure, are expected to be 710,000, 780,000 and 700,000 respectively.
