§ 59. Brigadier Smythasked the Minister of Defence if he will now give an assurance that no Service personnel shall suffer financial loss in pay and allowances by reason of being posted to a war area from their peace station.
§ Mr. ShinwellIn cases where the cost of maintaining a reasonable standard of living is lower in the war area than at the peace station, any local overseas allowance which a Service man has been getting may be reduced or withdrawn. But the lower cost of living ensures that the man is not worse off.
