HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 c135W
53. Mr. Marples

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what sum he has paid as fees to the surveyors representing applicants for compensation out of the global sum of£300 million under Sections 58 and 60 of the Town and Country Planning Act; and what is the estimated cost of the Government's own surveyors who are administering the compensation payable.

Mr. Gaitskell

Contributions towards fees are paid after the amount of the claim has been finally determined. The amount paid to the end of February, 1951, was£550,014. As regards the second part of the Question, I regret that it is impossible to give any reliable estimate.

54. Mr. Marples

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many individual claims he has received for compensation out of the global figure of£300 million under Sections 58 and 60 of the Town and Country Planning Acts.

Mr. Gaitskell

Eight hundred and seven thousand one hundred and three in respect of England and Wales and 137,354 in respect of Scotland.
