HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 c156W
Major Hicks-Beach

asked the Lord President of the Council the amount of materials, under the categories of cement, bricks and timber, which will be, or have been, used in connection with the Festival of Britain.

Mr. H. Morrison

I have been asked to reply.

No. The Festival of Britain covers the whole of Great Britain and includes, in addition to the official exhibitions and other events, hundreds of unofficial displays, some of which will use some or all of these materials in small quantities. I am not prepared to instruct the staff of the Festival of Britain Office to spend time in working out this sort of calculation when all their energies should go into the urgent task of getting the official Festival events opened on the announced dates.
