HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 cc137-8W
67. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyre

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what decisions were reached at the recent meeting of the Organisation of European Economic Co-operation to solve the adverse balance of payments incurred by Germany.

Mr. Gaitskell

The Council postponed any final decisions until they had received the new import programme which the German Government undertook to submit. As soon as this programme has been examined by the Managing Board and the appropriate Committees of the Organisation, there will be a further meeting of the Council at Ministerial level to consider the matter.
