§ 113. Mr. Emrys Hughesasked the President of the Board of Trade what materials, needed for the re-armament programme, he has recently imported from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and other countries of Eastern Europe.
Mr. H. WilsonIt would be very difficult to distinguish the imports of materials needed for the re-armament programme from other imports, but during the fourth quarter of 1950 we imported raw materials, mostly timber, worth £8.5 million from the Soviet Union and £8.7 million from other countries in Eastern Europe, including Finland and Yugoslavia. I am sending the hon. Member a statement giving details of the main imports from these countries for the fourth quarter of 1950.
