HC Deb 08 March 1951 vol 485 c75W
57. Mr. Wakefield

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can give figures of the mortality among dogs caused by hard pad during the last three years; what steps have been taken to control or eradicate this disease; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. T. Williams

I am advised that it is often difficult to distinguish between true distemper and so-called hard pad disease. I have no particulars about the incidence of or mortality caused by hard pad. Research into hard pad disease is continuing and a serum of some protective and curative value is available to veterinary surgeons.
