§ 72. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what proportion of the workers' houses, destroyed in Antigua by hurricane last August, have been rebuilt; what provision for completing reconstruction has been made; and to what extent fishermen who lost their equipment are being assisted in respect of replacement.
§ Mr. CookI would refer to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Accrington (Mr. H. Hynd) on 28th February. Government are making grants of one-quarter and loans of one-half of the estimated cost of replacing or repairing fishing boats. Grants have also been made from the Hurricane Relief Fund to provide each fisherman with one fish-pot and to meet three-quarters of the damage to other fishing tackle.
