HC Deb 07 March 1951 vol 485 cc66-7W
Mr. Viant

asked the Minister of Health whether he can supply any record for the year 1945 showing in the age class 0–15 how many diphtheria immunisations were performed; how many boosting doses were given and the total percentage immunised in that year.

Mr. Marquand

The number of children who received immunisation in 1945 was approximately 613,000. The number who were given boosting doses is not known, as the practice of giving these reinforcing injections did not develop to any considerable extent till the following year. It is estimated that 58 per cent. of the child-population at the end of 1945 had been immunised.

Mr. Viant

asked the Minister of Health whether he has records showing the proportion of children immunised against diphtheria in slum areas.

Mr. Marquand

No.
