§ Mr. Ness EdwardsThe latest complete comparison available is for the year 1949–50; during that year the average rate paid by the Post Office to the British Air Corporations for the carriage of first-class international mail was approximately 144d. per ton /mile. This was two and a half times the average passenger rate and more than four times the average freight rate.
