§ 75. Major Beamishasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action has been taken amongst those employed in the National Fire Service in the light of the policy laid down by the Prime Minister on 15th March, 1948, that nobody should be employed in work which is vital to the security of the State who is known to be a member of the Communist Party or to be associated with it in such a way as to raise legitimate doubts about his or her reliability.
§ Mr. de Freitas:The Prime Minister's statement related to the Civil Service. I am not aware of any need for corresponding action to be taken in the case of members of the Fire Service, which is now under the control of the local authorities.
