§ 125. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that the shortage of raw materials particularly steel for shipbuilding has caused unemployment in Aberdeen; and if he will take steps to increase and maintain a sufficient supply to enable the shipyards there to complete their orders and maintain full employment.
§ Mr. M. StewartThe shortage of raw materials such as iron and steel is not confined to Aberdeen, but is affecting all districts. Urgent consideration is being given to the re-introduction of the control of distribution of steel and I would ask my hon. and learned Friend to await the statement which will be made on this subject later this week.
