HC Deb 26 June 1951 vol 489 c134W
125. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Supply if he is aware that the shortage of raw materials particularly steel for shipbuilding has caused unemployment in Aberdeen; and if he will take steps to increase and maintain a sufficient supply to enable the shipyards there to complete their orders and maintain full employment.

Mr. M. Stewart

The shortage of raw materials such as iron and steel is not confined to Aberdeen, but is affecting all districts. Urgent consideration is being given to the re-introduction of the control of distribution of steel and I would ask my hon. and learned Friend to await the statement which will be made on this subject later this week.
