HC Deb 26 June 1951 vol 489 c126W
108. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Works how many building trade operatives there are now in Bristol; how many of these are engaged on the building of dwelling-houses; and how many on other types of buildings.

Mr. G. Brown

The number of building and civil engineering operatives working in Bristol is estimated to be about 10,400. Of this total about 2,800 are engaged on the erection of new houses and flats; and about 2,600 on other housing work. Some 2,000 are employed on other new building and civil engineering work; and about 3,000 on repairs and maintenance work other than housing.
