HC Deb 21 June 1951 vol 489 c83W
108. Mr. Erroll

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the review of the work and future of the Cotton Board in accordance with the statutory provision contained in the Industrial Organisation and Development Act, 1947, has now been completed; and when the result will be published.

Mr. Rhodes

The replies which the Board of Trade has received from the organisations representative of employers and employees concerned show that there is general agreement that the Cotton Board should continue in being. But a number of recommendations have been made for amending the Cotton Industry Development Council Order, 1948, particularly in regard to the incidence of the levy, and I am sorry that I cannot say at present when these outstanding questions will be settled.
