§ 11. Mr. J. Hyndasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made with the new road between Kijura in the Toro District of Uganda and Ndaiga; and whether it is proposed to complete this road.
Mr. DugdaleThe existing road from Kijura has been extended for about 4 miles and a preliminary track cut for about 11 miles. It was recently decided to suspend work on this road owing to the railway extensions to the west of 49W Kampala and to the increased cost in descending the escarpment north-east of Kitoma. The future of the road is at present under consideration by the Uganda Government.
