§ 90. Mr. Ellis Smithasked the President of the Board of Trade what action he has taken or intends taking on the resolution adopted by the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East, Seventh Session, 7th March, 1951, which dealt with the supply of capital goods and recommended the expansion of trade between the European countries and the Far East and Asia.
§ Mr. Bottomley:The Resolution in question accords with the general policy of His Majesty's Government, as evidenced by our participation in the 15W Colombo Plan, of assisting the economic development of the countries of South and South-East Asia. We shall keep in close touch with the Governments concerned and with the Secretariat of the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East with a view to alleviating any difficulties which may be impeding trade between the United Kingdom and the countries in the area.
