asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is now in a position to announce the terms of reference and personnel of the Commission of Inquiry into Crofting Conditions.

Mr. McNeil

Yes. The Commission of Inquiry will have the following terms of referenceTo review crofting conditions in the Highlands and Islands with special reference to the secure establishment of a smallholding population making full use of agricultural resources and deriving the maximum economic benefit therefrom; and to report.

The personnel of the Commission of Inquiry will be as follows:
