HC Deb 04 June 1951 vol 488 c76W
Mr. P. Roberts

asked the Minister of Supply if he can now make a further statement on the action he is taking to ensure that the raw materials for steel making are available to the nationalised steel industry to ensure full employment in the industry.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement which I made on the 30th April in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Rotherham (Mr. J. Jones). I can assure him that every effort is being made to secure sufficient supplies of raw materials for steel-making. I should like to take this opportunity of emphasising once again the urgent importance of the home scrap drive.
