HC Deb 04 June 1951 vol 488 cc62-3W
60. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he is taking to make known to the Persian people, and especially the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company's employees, the unemployment and distress which must result among the oil workers if the industry is put out of action by the policy of the present Persian Government.

Mr. Younger

The views of His Majesty's Government, which in this respect coincide largely with those of the hon. Member, have been made known on frequent occasions to the Persian Government by His Majesty's Ambassador at Tehran. Similar views have been reflected in the Press and on the radio, not only in this country but in a number of others.
