HC Deb 04 June 1951 vol 488 c80W
116. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Local Government and Planning how many building licences have been given specifically to house the staff of the Aldermaston A.E.R.E. Station and to rehouse families to be displaced by the airfield at Greenham Common; and if he will give an assurance that the rate of housebuilding for local needs in the borough and rural district of Newbury will not thereby be prejudiced.

Mr. Lindgren

336 houses will be built for the staff at Aldermaston. The Ministry of Supply are responsible for finding the building labour from outside the area. These houses are in addition to the allocations to the Newbury Borough and Rural District Councils. My right hon. Friend has given the Newbury Rural District Council a special allocation of 42 houses to re-house families moving from Greenham Common.
